Payment Options


During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are attempting to work with those who wish to receive telehealth services through our office.Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are a Tennessee resident and are feeling the need for services. We will do the best we can to accommodate your needs during this difficult and anxiety producing time. From what we understand, Cigna, Magellan and Optum are covering telehealth services. Blue Cross Blue Shield requires that each individual policy holder call customer service to see if your particular policy covers telehealth therapy. Take care and be kind to one another. 

Payment is advised prior to the beginning of your session simply because experience has taught us that some sessions may bring about heightened emotions, making payment afterwards a frustrating and difficult experience for you. However, if you prefer to wait until the end of the session to pay, that is acceptable.

We accept cash or checks made out to Riverside Psychotherapy. There is a $25 charge for returned checks. In addition, we can accept debit cards for flexible Health Spending Accounts, as well as traditional credit cards: Master Card, Visa, American Express.

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield/Magellan Behavioral Health Inc., Cigna Behavioral Health insurance, Optum United Health Care and Aetna.

Therapy at Riverside Psychotherapy ranges from $110 - $140 per session depending upon the clinican and the service. If you have health insurance with behavioral health coverage, we have a contracted rate with your insurance company which means a lower payment for you per session.

Prior to your first appointment, it is very helpful for you to fax a copy of your insurance card (front and back) along with the Insurance Application which can be found under the client forms tab. If we have this information, we will be able to inform you of your financial responsibilities for each session during or prior to your initial session. Fax number 888-508-6829

If you would prefer not to send the information to us prior to your first appointment, you may want to call the customer service number on the back of your card to inquire as to whether or not the clincian you have chosen to see is in-network with your particular type of insurance and whether or not you have a deductible that you must meet prior to insurance payments beginning. The customer service representative should be able to tell you exactly what you will owe for each visit when accessing mental health benefits.

While we do not offer a sliding fee scale, we will work with you as best we can in getting the help that you want and need.

Since there are limited spaces for counseling and we sometimes have a waiting list, we must require 24 hour notice if you need to cancel your appointment for anything other than emergency situations. If you have an appointment and you do not show or late cancel within the 24 hour window without a legitimate emergency, unless we are able to fill your scheduled time with another client, you will be charged your full fee for the missed appointment. We are unable to bill insurance companies for missed appointments. If you do not show or late cancel more than once, the therapist may not be able to accommodate future scheduling requests.
